• YOGA

Lamu has quietly become a small hub for yoga lovers. Our guesthouse offers intimate classes in a peaceful courtyard of our gardens. Guests are welcome to join us for yoga sessions designed to suit both beginners and experienced practitioners. Classes are led by certified yoga teacher Fred.

  • SLOW FOOD

The Slow food movement started in Italy during the 1980s, and it has since spread worldwide advocating for local, fresh food. Food must be produced in a clean way without dangerous chemicals and the farmers must get their fair share in the production chain. Slow Food Kenya is very active since 2014. The association supports small-scale farmers and encourages them to promote their cultural food traditions. We’ve have been running a Slow Food awarded restaurant in Sweden for 30 years, and we keep cooking under the slow food tenets here at Subira House too. Most of our vegetables and fruits come from our farm (shamba) on the island, and fish is caught fresh from the sea !

  • MASSAGE

We have a quiet airy outside area for massages at Subira. Please let us know, ideally 24 hours in advance, if you want to get pampered up ! We will organise this for you. Rates start from 3500 KES for one hour.

  • PERMACULTURE

We own a 3 acres permaculture Shamba (farm) inland Lamu. Our guests are welcome to visit and even stay overnight !

  • POLE POLE

Slow, slow. This is a motto for swahili people. We invite you to truly disconnet during your stay ! Please look at the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, the dhows sailing over the most turquoise sea, the African night sky … but not at your phone !
